2 and 3-wheel legislation
It’s possible to drive an MP3 LT 250 or 400 without ever having had an A motorcycle license. But two conditions must be met:
1- You must have had your license for two years, and be over 21 for 3-wheelers.
2- Completion of the mandatory 7-hour training course at a motorcycle school.
Note that holders of a B driving license obtained on or after January 19, 2013, who do not hold a motorcycle license, must be at least 21 years old, have held a 2-year license, and have completed the 7-hour training course to be able to drive these vehicles.
Tricycles whose power exceeds 15 kW (20 HP) require a minimum age of 21 to drive. This condition only applies to holders of A and B licenses obtained on or after 19/01/2013.
Driving licenses enabling you to drive these vehicles:
- Licenses obtained before January 19, 2013: A, former A2 and A3, or B, provided you have held your B license for at least 2 years and have completed the 7-hour training course. These 2 conditions are not required for people who have driven an MTL or a tricycle between 2006 and 2011, driving justified by an insurance document, called a statement of information.
- Licenses obtained on or after January 19, 2013: A or B, provided you have held a B license for at least 2 years and have completed the 7-hour training course. These 2 conditions are not required for people who have driven an MTL or a tricycle between 2006 and 2011, and whose driving is supported by an insurance document called a “statement of information”.
Please note that the new A2 license does not entitle you to drive a tricycle of more than 15 kW (20 hp).
